Cookie sat on his couch perch for a while before going for the carrot I put out for him. As I started typing , he decided to go for another walk around. I figured he was going to go over to his tray as he was about due.
Instead, he walked up to me and jumped up on my legs (I sit cross legged with my legs up on top of my desk and my keyboard on my lap while typing). I was VERY surprised as I seldom handle him (he is a tad unruly, and can only be handled with gloves as he has razor sharp tungsten carbide VAST PAIN claws at the moment). Apparently, he is getting the message that I'm not a threat.
After sitting on my legs for a while, he decided to explore my desk top some more. He has been examining EVERY little thing up there. I fed him a little mustard green. And, after biting the little red, yellow, and green lights on my computer network hub and walking on my caller ID box buttons some more, he wandered over to my printer table, climbed my printer, FAX machine and scanner, and proceeded to try to climb my bulletin board (which I have since removed). My biggest fear was that he was going to knock over my Ecosphere (which normally lives atop my scanner), and he came PERILOUSLY close to accomplishing this deed (also removed at this point). I've been GOD to the little shrimps in my Ecosphere for WAY too long to lose them due to a curious Iguana.
After trashing my desk, he is perched on top of my monitor again. *sigh* The last time I tried to pick him up, he was VERY unruly. I think I'll just let him stay up there for a while. He seems to like it, as it is the highest point in the room (other than his new perch) that he has discovered he has access to. I'm sure it's nice and warm up there as well.
I guess that it is a GOOD THING that he has become more "curious" about his surrounding. He is settling in nicely in his new home.
Although I find it to be quite amusing, I am NOT excited that Cookie has decided he likes the top of my desk. Too many things for him to get into, and possibly hurt.
Looks like I'm going to have to rethink my "Iguana Proofing."
It's always SOMETHING...
